Product Development Team Lead

As Product Development Team Lead at Innova IRV Microelectronics, you will join our engineering team based in Málaga, contributing to the design of next-generation chip solutions.

You will be responsible for leading the execution team throughout the different stages of the product development cycle, from initial specification to launch, translating strategic objectives into concrete results and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business goals.

This role combines strategic thinking, team leadership and a deep understanding of the product development lifecycle.

If you have experience in the development of semiconductor-based products — embedded systems, SoCs, microcontrollers or communication systems —, are proficient in industry-standard tools and methodologies, and want to contribute to the development of innovative microelectronics from Málaga, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication with different stakeholders, including management, marketing and sales teams, to ensure alignment and support.

  • Overseeing the full product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

  • Managing and mentoring the product development team, fostering collaboration and ensuring efficient workflows.

  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks or blockers during the development process, ensuring successful and on-time launches.

  • Defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience:

  • More than 5 years of experience in semiconductor-based product development.

  • Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a discipline related to semiconductor design.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Knowledge of the ASIC product development lifecycle.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.

  • Technical expertise in embedded systems, microcontrollers and wireless communications.


Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline focused on semiconductor design.

  • Experience working in direct contact with customers, effectively managing their needs, issues and requirements.

  • Knowledge of industry trends to identify business expansion opportunities.

  • Hands-on experience assessing current and emerging customer needs in combination with the products designed by the organisation.

  • Experience creating and prioritising features to be implemented based on market needs, user feedback and business objectives.

  • Monitoring key metrics and analysing user data to assess product performance and identify areas for improvement.

About Innova IRV Microelectronics (IRVI)

INNOVA IRV Microelectronics S.L., a subsidiary of the Ricardo Valle Institute of Innovation Foundation (INNOVA IRV), specialises in ultra-low-power RISC-V solutions for microelectronics. It currently leads initiatives such as RISCcom (“Low-power secure multipurpose system based on RISC-V for wireless communications”), driving the microelectronics sector in Spain through RISC-V architecture and research into integrated RF, and ULPERT (“Ultra-Low-Power RISC-V Technology”). Both projects are being developed within the framework of the European Union’s Recovery and Transformation Plan, with support from CDTI and the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, respectively. The INNOVA IRV Foundation also acts as a RISC-V subcontractor in PERTE Chip II, with three awarded projects: SINAPTIX, RHEIN-MMC and GAS-CHIP.
