Innova IRV Microelectronics participates in the kick-off meeting of the 68 IPCEI projects in Berlin

Representatives of the 14 European countries participating in the “Important Project of Common European Interest” (IPCEI) of the European Commission, have met on 23 and 24 October in Berlin on the occasion of the launch meeting of the 68 projects included in this initiative.

The company Innova IRV Microelectronics SL, 100% owned by the Ricardo Valle Institute of Innovation Foundation (Innova IRV), has been part of this meeting as one of the four Spanish companies selected as direct participants by the European Commission in the field of microelectronics.

Oscar Chabrera, CFO&COO of Innova IRV and member of the board of Innova IRV Microelectronics SL, has participated in the event, which took place at the headquarters of the German Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, and was attended by the Director General of Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission, Thomas Skordas, among other European authorities.

Innova IRV Microelectronics SL will develop within this European initiative the DKULPIOT project (Design Kit Ultra Low Power Internet Of Things), which aims to generate a microelectronic design and advanced encapsulation to provide a platform (Design Kit and Hw Platform) for companies in the IoT sector.

After the green light given by the European Commission to the IPCEI last June, this is the second major milestone in the progress towards the implementation of a European sovereignty strategy in areas of special interest, such as microelectronics and communication technologies.

In total, Europe has earmarked 8.1 billion euros for these projects, with the aim of supporting research, innovation and industrial deployment of microelectronics. Innova IRV Microelectronics SL, through the DKULPIOT project, will mobilize more than 120 million euros.
